A Chiefs Community Celebration was held on Saturday, December 15th.

The evening started with a steak dinner provided to the team by the Quarterback Club.  The NHS Tribal Beat Band Drum Line then led a Spirit Walk through the halls showcasing the many posters crafted by students before the game.

During the assembly in the gymnasium, Principal Gayle Weaver presented Certificates of Appreciation to the many businesses that supported the team’s trip to Orlando and recognized Mayor Freddie McCall and Escambia County District V Representative Steven Barry for their support.

School Board Superintendent Malcolm Thomas gave a motivating speech recognizing the number of people in the community who were on hand in Orlando to support the Chiefs.

Congressman Jeff Miller’s District Representative Sharon Santurri was escorted by Tim Rackard, an NHS ROTC Unit Executive Officer and Cadet Lieutenant.  During the assembly, Ms. Santurri read the Congressional Record of Honor recognizing their achievement and presented a framed America flag that flew over the White House in their honor.

After the presentations and inspirational messages from Head Coach Sid Wheatley and Athletic Director Gary Mattes, the football team held a t-shirt signing followed by a replay of the game courtesy of Bright House Sports Network.
