Century Corretions Community Partnership Part II

The first stop was to the classroom.   Instructor, Jimmy Rawlinson explained that the number one focus is assisting the inmates in receiving their GED.

The goal for the past year was to get 40 inmates their GED.  Out of the 53 inmates who took the GED test, 52 were successful in getting their GED.  That speaks volumes for the heart of Mr. Rawlinson as he helps these men with their education, and the inmate’s desire and discipline to work hard enough to obtain it.

Mavis Beacon teaches typing at CCI.  This is beneficial for skills that will be needed when the inmates are released and seeking a job.

The Ready to Work program teaches reading, writing and basic skills to assist those who need a little fine tuning to be successful when released.  Upon completion of the Ready to Work program, the student is assessed and issued a certificate.  Out of 40 assessments, Century Corrections was successful in ensuring that 37 inmates received their certificates.
